Simple Signature

This tutorial with guide you through how to make a simple signature with a brushed metal effect:

 

1. Open Photoshop and create a new image. I used 500x150
2. Select the rounded rectangle tool and set the radius to 20px with any colour
3. With the rounded rectangle tool selected draw the rectangle and make it fill up most of the image
4. You can either leave it in it's current position or you can center it by pressing Ctrl + A or go to Select then All

Then select the Move Tool or press V

Then on the top toolbar click both center aligns

Now right click the new layer which is your shape and click Rasterize Layer

Then right click it again and select Blending Options

Tick the Bevel and Emboss box and the Pattern Overlay box

For the Bevel and Emboss use these settings:

Click OK

Download this JPG file and open it in photoshop

Then go to Edit and select Define Pattern and give it a name.

Open up the Blending Options for the layer again and select the Pattern Overlay tab

And use these settings:

Then select the arrow next to the pattern example and select the last patter, which should be the one you just made

Then press OK

Duplicate this layer and use these Blending Options:

I used #99ffff for the colour.

Highlight Mode: #FFFFFF
Shadow Mode: #000099

For the gradient I used #66CCFF to #0066CC

For the stroke I used #000033

Then press OK and move the layer to below the brushed metal layer

Right click the Background Layer and click Delete. Select Yes from the options

Then type the text that you want on the signature

Press Ctrl + Click on the small image by the text

Select the brushed metal layer and press Delete

Either delete the text layer or hide it. Do the same with any pictures you want to add.

Save as a PNG. This will keep the transparency or you can save as JPG. Saving as JPG will give the image a background. So rather than deleting the Background Layer, you can set it to what you want
