Portal

Portal is a new extremely innotive game that was released with the Orange Box from Valve. I must say it is a very good game to play. I first played most of it through myself then later watching 2 of my drunk friends try to manuever around the game with which they had a lot of difficulty.

The game was surprisingly short but I guess you could say it was expected as I thought it was going to end a lot sooner than it did.

The main highlight of the game for me was not the actual gameplay itself but GLADDoS. The hilarious comments throughout the game made Portal something special that seperated it from all other games. Every gamer who has played Portal will be walking around saying “The cake is a lie…..” while hugging their companion cube.

Public beta releases

It seems to me that a lot of Developers/Publishers are releasing beta’s of their games before the demo to the public. For Publishers like EA this seems very strange as most of the games they release are buggy as hell anyway and that is after private beta and demo release.

It would seem as though certain companies are either trying to improve their new games to remove as many bugs as possible by doing a public beta or saving money by skipping private beta testing.
