This tutorial with guide you through how to make a a lightning abstract effect using Photoshops default Filters. The results are different everytime you do it so your result will not be the same as mine:

Open Photoshop and create a new document. I'm using 1024x768. |

Press D on the keyboard, this will reset the colours to Black and White, alternatively you can press the reset button next to the colours. |

Then go to Filter » Render » Clouds |

Then go to Filter » Render again but this time select Difference Clouds |

Repeat this a few times by either clicking Filter then the top most option which will be the last filter you used or alternatively press Ctrl + F |

Press Ctrl + U to bring up the Hue and Saturation box and tick the colourise box. I used these settings:

Now you have a simple abstract lighting wallpaper, which is simple to make and looks nice. |
