Global Warming - Turn the heat up?

Ah...global warming.  You can't deny it is happening.  Hell, it's been happening for the last what, 14,000 years or so?  Is it really a bad thing?

One can only assume that as the last ice age ended and temperatures started to rise, life was able to flourish.  This mean a large incline of new creatures on the planet.  This means more resources are being used and more waste produced.  I am not even talking about humans here.  What about all the other animals that cover the planet.  All the methane and CO2 they produce would of been huge.  At the very most the industrial age would of only increased the acceleration of this global warming.

Is it a bad thing?

All you see on the news and media is how global warming is going to kill everyone and everything on the planet.  Is there actually any proof for this?  What happens when your fridge or freezer gets too much ice in it?  You defrost it.  It makes it a lot more efficient.  Perhaps the earth could be seen as a large fridge being defrosted to make the planets eco system more efficient.

You can't go on about the save the polarbear's crap.  They live there, that's their problem.  Mammoths used to live in the large sections of the earth covered in ice and are now extinct.  That is fair, they had large woolly coats on.  Once the planet warmed up they had no use for the wool and couldn't exactly pop in to a hair dressers.

Sea levels are supposed to be ever rising from the ice bergs melting.  You will always see dramatic images on the news of ice falling in to the water from giant icebergs.  Yes, that is what happens in the summer.  They aren't going to show you pictures from the winter are they?  Where it is a cold bitter white wilderness that hardly anything can survive in.  Turn the heat up a bit then the animals don't have to be lazy buggers and sleep all winter.  All we get is a few extra days of working to celebrate the birth of a fictional character from one of the biggest selling books of all time.

So we are all going to die of heat then?

Global warming, mislabelled as it is, is supposed to make most of the northern hemisphere of the planet go cold, which may finally see an end to geordies walking around with no T-shirt and their tropical shorts in the middle of winter.

What about the plants, surely the plants that are in warmer climates are going to flourish?  Think about it, all the creatures that die in the northern hemisphere from the cold will bring down the O2 usage and lower CO2 emissions.  This in turn will make the CO2 and O2 levels go back to what they once were.  But providing only the northern hemisphere gets cold, the southern hemisphere is most likely to get warmer.  This means the plants and vegetation will be in slightly higher heat, which is likely to increase the humidity in the air and higher levels of CO2 for photosynthesis.

All of this is a winning combination to a thriving eco-system.

So it's not all a scam to make us spend more money and get taxed?

Well I am not denying this.  It is quite possible that global warming is all a load of shit and that companies can use scare tactics to make people buy "eco-friendly" products.  These products generally have a higher price than their "hazardous" competitors which kill the planet.

From statistics that I have seen and heard floating around this so called global warming stopped in 1996.  Since then it has been in a plateau state for over 10 years.

Should we be worried?

I am no scientist, I'm not a ballerina either and I am also not a lawyer but I would say no.  What difference has it made in the last 10 years to you?  Probably none except for the financial implications from all the green tax that has been able to be put on to all purchases that could be deemed good to the planet.

If I shouldn't be worried, why do Greenpeace climb buildings and protest?

Because they are a bunch of idiots that don't realise the irony of their cause.  They have an Internet presence which in turn is using up valuable electricity.  Their website serves no real purpose.  If you are interested in Greenpeace and you want to look at their website you will have to use a computer which also uses electricity and that has to use various other telephone exchanges to connect to the server etc which all use electricity, most of which is probably powered by either coal or nuclear.  Then the other media they use is to climb buildings to get in the newspapers and TV.  Well both use electricity and newspapers use a hell of a lot of paper, which equals a hell of a lot of trees, which equals a hell of a lot of extra CO2 in the atmosphere not being absorbed by the trees cut down by Greenpeace to tell you that you should protest against the cutting down of trees.

Should I buy a Prius?

If you are questioning your sexuality and you like the look of it why not.  The Toyota Prius is no more efficient that any other car.  If anything it is worse.  The battery doesn't have a very long lifespan which you need to put a new one in.  What happens to the old one?  Well it can't be reused so it is chucked away.
